Business overview:

  • SureFitDentures Inc. owns the rights to sell UltraSuction in both the Canadian and US markets.

  • UltraSuction is a product that holds dentures firm and secure and was developed by the New Zealand company Biomedics (NZ) Limited www.ultrasuction.com.

  • The product will be sold to consumers through distributors knowledgeable in the product capabilities.

  • Distributors will sell to dentists and denturists either directly or through affiliates located in their territory.

  • Demand push with individual consumers will be a secondary advantage of marketing initiatives.

Market Opportunity

Background

Biomedics NZ was established in 1991. Ultra Suction is a new product range and was launched in November 2004 selling into a country with a population of approximately 4 million.

The UltraSuction product was developed in New Zealand where 31% of the population wears dentures (approx 1.2 million). Their market research indicated that ¼ of denture wearers is likely to be dissatisfied with their dentures. New Zealand produces 360,000 dentures per annum with 170 Clinical Dental Technicians and around 2,000 dentists.

Amazingly, 500 Ultra Suction kits have been sold within the first 20 days of launching the product in New Zealand. Since then they are well on target to achieve annual sales of 10,000 units in a country with a population of only 4 million.

North American market

Goals and Expectations

Objectives of the distributor program

  • To create a win-win environment with our business partners that is focused on mutual long-term success.
  • To increase our reach to the North American market by having regional businesses sell directly in the region.
  • To ensure each Region achieves double digit growth and profitability by providing a marketing and sales support infrastructure.

Nature of partnerships

Distributor – This is the most comprehensive relationship with each distributor that is awarded the rights, will have a defined geographical area; there are 9 Regional Distributors in the USA and 4 in Canada. The Distributor likely will currently sell other dental products and will add UltraSuction as part of their offering.

Affiliate – This relationship is similar to an agency relationship. The role of the Affiliate would be similar to a salesperson. The affiliate is responsible to the Regional Distributor in which the Affiliate is located.

Qualification criteria for distribution partners

A shared vision, consistent business philosophies and complementary strengths. There is clear understanding regarding each other’s boundaries, and the driving forces of both our organizations are complementary. Measurable shared goals are developed, objectives are clearly defined, and there is an excellent clarity of purpose. The roles of each partner are clearly understood.

Operational processes exhibit a high degree of trust. Top executives from both companies are in contact regularly and support the goals of the partnership. We have excellent channels of communications at all levels. Key issues are raised early and acted on promptly.

Marketplace integrity and capability is excellent with a proven and positive reputation. There already exists a strong infrastructure to support the sales and marketing of denture solutions. This alliance will offer us a competitive advantage (best in class).
